Many anglers have their favourite way to add weight to their float drifting rig. The list goes on: Split-Shot, Rubber-Core, Sinkers Sliding Sinkers, Pencil Sinkers, bell. My favourite is the hollow core coil lead weight encased in parachute cord casing. Low friction reduced the amount of weight loss to the structures in the river.

Start with 1/4 inch hollow core coiled lead, 3/8 parachute casing from Tufline, known as slinky casing, lighter, pliers, sharp scissors and swivel snaps. The advantage of coil lead is that the angler can easily cut the weight size required for the river conditions.

In my experience, the sliding weight is very efficient in short drift, but the inline setup is best to avoid twisting when you need to drift long and swing your rigging.
